Every year there are many community events throughout The City of Bexley. Some have become an annual tradition. Be sure to mark your calendars and celebrate our urban forest with us.

ARBOR DAY

Celebrated on the last Friday in April each year.

Enjoy breakfast with your neighbors as the mayor makes many of the classic morning favorites, including his famous pancakes served with Bexley maple syrup which is made right here from trees growing in our public parks. After breakfast, the mayor will share a Bexley community and development update noting all of the intresting things happening. Other Arbor Day events include informative tree walks led my city forester Grant Archer.

BEXLEY MAPLE SYRUP TAPPING

Learn the methods of tapping sugar maples.

Meet some of the Bexley arborists and learn how to properly identify sugar maples, tap them and install the collection system. At a later date, once all the sap necessary is collected, you can join us at the Jeffrey Woods event to learn the syrup making process. There we boil tree sap for hours and hours over an open fire to evaporate the water and concentrate the sugars in the syrup. It takes 42 gallons of tree sap to make one gallon of pure maple syrup. The date of this event changes each year because tapping trees demands certain weather conditions.

JEFFREY WOODS FESTIVAL

Celebrated annually in early to mid-March.

Looking for something to do with the family on a chilling winter weekend? Join us at The Jeffrey Woods Festival! We will be boiling syrup, hosting a firewood splitting event, sawmill demonstrations, and many other winter activities. There are typically a few vendors present as well. Come stop by near the pool parking lot and see what its all about.

JAZZ IN THE PARKS

One weekend a month during summer

Jazz in the Park is an outdoor concert series held at Havenwood Park in Bexley, Ohio. Each summer, the City showcases central Ohio bands, bringing some of the best talent in our area right to Bexley. Food trucks will be on-site for food purchase at each concert. Music under a shade tree is an awesome way to experience our arboretum. Click here to view other parks situated around our arboretum.

Earth Day celebration

This event is typically celebrated in conjunction with Arbor Day

The City of Bexley hosts an Earth Day celebration where a number of local businesses and groups who share our passion for sustainability come together and showcase current projects. Typically held at Schneider Park, there is something for everyone at this event, on-theme crafts, low impact food and our community garden and playground are just a few attractions you can expect. Check the city’s website for up to date venders and volunteer opportunities.
